My Furry Valentine! + Puppy Love Cookie Recipe

My Furry Valentine! + Puppy Love Cookie Recipe

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if your plans include spending quality time with your furry friends, then you have come to the PURRfect spot!

We love our animals so much and want to reciprocate the love and attention they give us all year long. Did you know that more than 50% of pet parents will be buying something for their animals on Valentine’s Day? So what are your special plans with your furry loved ones?

This year we will be doing a combination of extra walks for both Zeke and Bella, signing Zeke up for agility training for the Springtime and of course making and baking special healthy homemade Valentine’s Day treats for all of our cats and dogs.  We have eight fur babies in the family which is more than our human family members!

Honestly, the inspiration for these cookies was not from me, but came from Maria's blog stayingclosetohome.com. She made these adorable puppy cookies for humans using a 2” heart-shaped cookie cutter and dark and light cookie dough. I immediately saw it and thought, I can replicate this recipe by using my carob and cheese PetCake mixes for cats & dogs! And that is exactly what I did. I have made these cookies for 3 different events and they were a huge success!

I am sharing this fun and easy cookie recipe with you in hopes you will try it for your furry loved ones. Feel free to share this recipe with other pet parents. Don’t forget to send us pictures and tag us on social media: @iLovePetCakes  #iLovePetCakes

Puppy Love Cookie Recipe

You will need: PetCakes Complete Baking Kit for Dogs, 2 inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, baking sheet, spatula, rolling pin, and 2 medium sized bowls.

Cookie Ingredients:  1 PetCakes cheese flavored cake mix, 3 Tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt, 1 PetCakes carob flavored cake mix, 3 Tablespoons of canned pumpkin.

Recipe:  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

DOG EARS: Thoroughly combine carob cake mix with canned pumpkin, form into ball, and rollout onto clean dry surface. Cut out 8 heart-shaped cookies, cut them in half, place points together on cookie sheet (see recipe card).

DOG FACE: Thoroughly combine cheese cake mix with Greek yogurt, form into ball and roll out onto clean dry surface. Cut out 8 heart-shaped cookies. Using a spatula, place cookies onto baking sheet UPSIDE DOWN on top of dog’s ears and pressing together lightly.  (See recipe card)

Cook for 10 minutes in oven, remove and cool.

Frosting Instructions: Combine 1 PetCakes Frosting Mix and 2 Tablespoons of water and stir until all clumps are gone. I used a baggie to decorate. Fill baggie with frosting and squeeze to the point of baggie, then using scissors, clip a tiny corner off and use that to decorate cookies (see recipe card).
